Toboggan Ornament

December 12, 2018

These charming toboggan ornaments are easy to make, and are a great craft to do with family (even kids!) this Christmas season. They look great hanging on a tree, and would also make a creative gift tag (just write the recipient’s name on the toboggan!).

Glue the 3 mini craft sticks together, with the middle stick taller than the two sides like an arrow. Set on a piece of waxed paper to dry. Use scissors to square off the end of a long craft stick, then cut off a piece measuring roughly 1 ¼ inches.

Paint the toboggan top red on the top and sides. Set on the waxed paper to dry. Paint the small cut piece red on the top and sides; let dry.

Paint the remaining two long craft sticks brown on the sides and top. Set on waxed paper to dry. Paint the back, then let dry. Use glue to attach to the bottom of the toboggan, with more of the stick above the point of the arrow than the bottom. Let dry.

Turn the toboggan over and glue the small red rail to a midpoint on the upper brown rails.

Glue a small piece of greenery to the top red rail. Thread a bell on the red thread, then tie around the greenery and red rail. Trim excess thread. Cut a 6-inch piece of thread, then glue both ends to the back of the toboggan, creating a hanger for the ornament.

Now your ornament is ready to hang, or gift to someone special!

Red craft paint
Brown craft paint
Faux greenery

Glue the 3 mini craft sticks together, with the middle stick taller than the two sides, so it’s pointed like an arrow. Set on a piece of waxed paper to dry. Use scissors to square off the end of a long craft stick, then cut off a piece roughly 1 ¼ inches long. Paint the toboggan top red on the top and sides; let dry. Paint the small cut piece red on the top and sides; let dry.

Paint the remaining two craft sticks brown on the sides and top; let dry. Paint the back; let dry. Use glue to attach them to the bottom of the toboggan, with more of the stick above the point of the arrow than the bottom. Let dry.

Turn the toboggan over and glue the small red rail to a midpoint on the upper brown rails. Glue a small piece of greenery to the top red rail. Thread a bell on the red thread, then tightly tie around the greenery and red rail. Trim excess thread. Cut a 6-inch piece of thread, then glue both ends to the back of the toboggan, creating a hanger for the ornament.
