My idea of fun is sitting with my friends and plotting ideas. The whole concept of The Christmas Spirit came from a plotting session with my friend, Linda Nichols. The two of us were sitting in my gazebo on a bright, sunny day last summer, plotting away on her book. Her idea revolved around creating opposite personalities. Like we always do, we tossed ideas back and forth, laughed, and joked at some odd combinations. The concept of a bartender and a pastor came up, but it didn’t fit Linda’s story. However, it lit a bonfire in me, and I ran with it. Thank you, Linda. Rarely have I enjoyed writing a book more. I believe it’s one of the most humorous books I’ve written.

November 23, 2022 at 1:31 amHi Debbie,
I have been a fan of yours for many years. I am no longer. I started reading your new book, The Christmas Spirit, but stopped reading when Nana started explaining to her 6 and 8 year old grandchildren that a stripper is a women who takes off her clothes for men. In what world is it ok to normalize this kind of conversation with young children? Shame on you!!! I think you owe all of your readers an apology!

November 25, 2022 at 7:14 pmHi Debbie, I just finished reading “The Christmas Spirit”. I have read all your Christmas novels and even though I enjoyed reading all of them, this one was truly my favorite! Along the way, I have laughed so much as I was reading, it made my day. So thank you and please continue writing. Have a wonderful holiday season and take care. Love, Isilda
