Our office receives hundreds of letters a month in reader mail. Debbie takes time each morning to read every letter and this particular letter, our entire staff loved so much. When Heidi, our office mail guru, opened this letter and it was placed in front of Debbie she said “I enjoy seeing my novels span the generations and become a tradition in a home and family.” It is true! We hold reader events throughout the year with speaking engagements and our bi-annual reader retreat and we are always amazed by the generational adoration of Debbie’s books. Often started as something passed down, or as a Christmas tradition.

May 12, 2018 at 3:44 amHi, I always enjoyed reading your books and I own many of them. My latest I read is The Navy Brides. How come you changed so much and write in this book so much about sex. I had to check several times the front cover to make sure that the book author is you Debbie Macomber. I am not used to read books like this one and was completely surprised. I believe it should have a warning for it. I loved the story line on both the Navy Brides and Navy Blues. But honestly the sex scenes are too much and too many. If this is the new trend I will warn my friends and definitely will not buy any books of yours any more. Really too bad, since all the other ones I truly enjoyed reading it. I don’t understand why you have to start this, Connie Schmucki

May 18, 2018 at 10:44 pmHi Debbie:
Thank you for writing the book, “Any Dream Will Do”. It was beautiful, inspiring, and I enjoyed reading about the unconditional love we have for all mankind. It encouraged me to love the homeless, and think about their needs more!
I loved your Rose Harbor Series, it was incredibly uplifting and once again, your gift of describing the character’s emotions so realistically really touched my heart. I can’t thank you enough for all of the good quality books, and the wonderful time I have reading them. I am one of your biggest fans and believers!
God Bless you,
Judy Worley

June 18, 2018 at 3:17 pmDear Debbie,
I recently purchased the book Navy Brides. I was os surprised when I started reading. In fact I didn’t finish either story. I had to check twice to make sure you wrote it. Frankly, I was embarrassed . I am in my 70s and read a Lot of your books. At times I have to fast forward some of the reading, I can deal with that, but this one was not the case.
Heidi
June 20, 2018 at 9:31 pmDebbie was sorry to hear that you were disappointed in NAVY BRIDES. The books that are in this book were first published in 1998 and 1991 and was reissued this year.
Most of Debbie’s fiction books are written for the secular market. Some of her earliest books have more sensuality in them, as that is what was requested of published authors at that time. Occasionally, in order to tell a believable story, characters could utter words you might not expect, but they are always “in character” and never used purely for shock value. In her writing, Debbie continues to show that actions have consequences. She has learned from her readers (and her own instincts) that what they want and what she loves to write are heartwarming stories about people we’d love to know. You can be assured that all her current books are more in line with what you’re accustomed to. I think her later releases and current books such as ANY DREAM WILL DO, IF NOT FOR YOU, the Rose Harbor series and the Cedar Cove series. Debbie never uses profanity in her personal life.
Debbie writes three new books a year for Ballantine Books, Random House. Her older publisher (Harlequin, MIRA) owns the rights and routinely reissues them to capture the attention of readers who may not be familiar with her. They like to publish her older books in a 2-in-1 book format and give it a new title, plus add one of her older books to an anthology with other authors. The best thing to do is look at the copyright page and look when the books were first published. Debbie no longer writes for Harlequin, so if you see a new book coming out that is published from Harlequin, MIRA, it will be an old book.
Debbie also puts out a monthly newsletter and will tell you about her brand new books. She does not promote her older ones unless they are being published as an eBook. Readers are trying to get the older ones for that format and Debbie owns the rights for them.
