Grace Fox co-directs an international non-profit, speaks at women’s events overseas and across North America, and has authored ten books. Her new devotional Finding Hope in Crisis: Devotions for Calm in Chaos is available now! Grace was recently featured in the January 2021 issue of Welcome Home and has generously answered a few questions!
1. Why did you become a writer?
Because math doesn’t make sense to me! Seriously, I believe I was destined to be a writer. From childhood, my best grades in school came from subjects that involved word crafting. Letter writing became a hobby. Journaling became a discipline that helped me process my thoughts. When the idea of writing for publication first came to mind in 1998, it seemed the next right step to pursue. One step led to another and to another. Each new opportunity sees more of my destiny unfold.
2. What inspired your current book?
Finding Hope in Crisis: Devotions for Calm in Chaos was born from a desire to encourage people facing hard times. Speaking from personal experience, I know life can change in a nanosecond. Circumstances thrust the mind into overload. It’s difficult to focus on anything other than the immediate needs. At a time when we most need encouragement from God’s Word, we find it difficult to read and retain it. This book’s daily meditations are deliberately short and tightly focused, making reading and retaining biblical truth doable for those needing a nugget of hope and strength in their hard place.
3. What is next for you?
Beginning last summer, I’ve been teaching a weekly Zoom Bible study for about 75 women, writing the curriculum week by week. Now I want to develop that material further and explore the best avenues for publication.
