There is no greater season than fall. We welcome the crispness in the air after stifling summer heat. And there is nothing like that satisfying crunch of the leaves under your feet. It’s a special time of year where you can always find an excuse to curl up in a comfy chair with a fuzzy blanket, a cup of tea, your favorite novels and maybe even a sweet treat.
Now that autumn is here and the weather is cooling off, it’s time to transition to this fresh new season. Here are a few of my fall favorites, from seasonal décor to fun activities, that I am especially excited about.
1. Football
Our entire family just loves football. Wayne and I have had season tickets to the Seahawks since 1978. And we raised our four kids to be fans too! So, when the tickets arrive, it’s like a huge lottery to see who gets to go what game. My grandchildren even play the sport, one of my grandsons was on the varsity team at his school! From the pro teams to the high school teams, it is always thrilling to watch a live game but I also love hosting viewing parties at my home with family, friends and all the best tailgating foods!
2. White Pumpkins
We grow beautiful white pumpkins right in our own garden. They are now ready to be harvested and used as decorations in my home. Perfect on the threshold as you walk in or nestled by the fireplace, the white hue is such a pretty accent as we transition from the light colors of summer into the richness of fall. You can simply set them out, carve them, draw your initial or hollow out the middle with a hole in the top and use the pumpkin as a vase for the center of your table.
3. Foliage
Spring and summer flowers always bloom so beautifully, but I have to say when the leaves turn into glorious shades of gold, orange and brown, it is undeniably breathtaking. The blaze of color is truly one of the most spectacular shows Mother Nature puts on and I just marvel at the beauty of it all. Plus, the leaves make way for colorful home decorations and fun craft projects I can do with my grandchildren.
4. New Knits
Is there anything better than cozying up to a warm fire with a new knitting project in your arms? Not for me. I love this change in season because the cooler weather means time to indulge in luxurious knits. It’s also when I grow serious about my knitting too. I usually have several projects stacked away and I am excited for the opportunity to cast the first stitches onto my needles.
5. Pumpkin Spice Latte
While I do love my tea, this time of year is all about pumpkin spice lattes! I am truly a pumpkin sort of girl, it is such a symbol of autumn for me. And I just love that spicy aroma and delicately sweet taste. I wait all year for Starbucks to bring their delicious pumpkin spice lattes and for pumpkin pie to be in vogue again. It’s finally here, and I can’t wait to enjoy every last sip.

October 23, 2018 at 5:33 pmFall is also one of my favorites. Being we live in southern AZ, I also love winter and the Christmas season. I have my fall decor all up but no pumpkins yet. I have had 2 pumpkin spice lattes, one with a couple of my daughters last week and one in the Midwest when we were there a few weeks ago for a month. We also go to shuffle they the beautiful leaves while we were there. Thanks for all you writing Debbie, I am reading Alaskan Holiday right now.
