2023 Word of the Year

January 9, 2023

I’ve been reading a series of four books by Sharon Garlough Brown, the first of which is titled SENSIBLE SHOES. The story is about the spiritual journal of four women. Repeatedly, I stumbled upon the word READY. It came to me that this was my word for 2023. I want to be ready for whatever God has in store for me in the upcoming year.

Last year I decided if I was going to focus on one word through the year, that there should be one that I eliminate. My word for 2022 was clutter. Confession time: I didn’t have much success. I did clean out one closet and sorted through my yarn, dispersing skeins to knitting friends and charity (you can only imagine how difficult that was for a yarn hoarder!). Rather than repeat the same word, I decided the word I wanted to dismiss for 2023 is IMPATIENCE. My hope is that I can ‘go with the flow’ and accept the bumps in the road as a natural part of life.

I have read all of the ‘Sensible Shoes’ series … I enjoyed them very much, and I hope you did too. So many things to learn and to “ponder”. Happy 2023 … get READY!
