A Leg Up
My precious 99-year old aunt Betty Stierwalt wrote me before I went in for knee replacement surgery. Actually, her sore left leg wrote my damaged right knee a letter filled with encouragement and advice. She insists that she's going to live until she dies. That, my friends, is profound advice.
I'm getting around better now and my energy level is picking up, so today my right knee is writing her left leg back. As you can tell, I come from an inventive and fun family.
Thank you for all your notes of encouragement and advice, too. It is comforting to know that I'm one of many and that I will come out of this stronger!

Re: A Leg Up
When I had my knee surgery, they told me it was like going through a tunnel and I would reach the light. That was 8 years ago. I did become comfortable and have had no problems since the surgery. Hang in there. It will amaze you how much better you will feel. Jeanney

Re: A Leg Up
Debbie, you will be strong and I think you will do fine with your new knee. Mine is 2 years old and I exercise everyday and make sure the knee doesn't stiffen.

Debbie,
I suffer with so many chronic illnesses, including joint problems, so I feel for you in a special way. Of course, one the my greatest comforts is to read your books, so I wish you that same comfort and joy that you have given to me as you recuperate.
I am praying for you!
Hugs,
Maureeen

Debbie,
I had duel knee replacement in Jan 2005 and it was the best thing I ever did. Just do what they tell you and don't over do. It will take a while don't get discouraged. Keep the faith and God Bless mkharp

Re: A Leg Up
Debbie, I had my knee replaced six years ago and I am so glad I did. Thank God we have doctors that can make us feel better. It's tough surgery but so worth it. Get well fast so you will be ready to make the trip to Dayton. We are driving down from the Detroit area to see you and can hardly wait. I passed the time by reading your books.

Re: A Leg Up
I hope you are still doing well with your recovery! I had my right knee replaced in June and I am doing great. You will be glad you had the surgery. I read your Dakota series while I was recovering. I just started reading your books a couple of years ago starting with the Cedar Cove series. I love your writing and really enjoyed your non-fiction Knit Together. You signed my book at Renaissance Yarns in Kent. We have met a few times at signings & the annual Cedar Cove tea's. I have been there with my Red Hat group. My name is Debbie too and you always comment about it.

Re: A Leg Up
Debbie, Hope you are still doing well and that your "new" right knee is talking to Betty's "sore" left leg.(Wrote you last year about your Aunt Betty........she was my father's secretary years ago at his clothing store). She had a great sense of humor then, and seems she has not lost it. I've had two hips replaced, and glad that I did
so. Joint replacement is a great thing....the pain goes away, and you feel almost like new. Keep up the physical therapy and....the great writing. Look forward to all of your new books. Mary Anne
