Let 'er rip!
The time I have to knit is so precious, and it seems I have less and less of it.  (That, however, doesn’t mean I have decreased my yarn buying habits!)  Last Sunday offered five uninterrupted hours of knitting as Wayne and I drove home from our Washington State wine tour.  I was in knitter's heaven.  I’m working on a vest and managed to finish up the body and one entire side, when I realized, to my horror, that I had made a mistake in the first row I knit after we hit the road.  A really big mistake.  This is the kind of error that can only be fixed by ripping out to the error and starting over again.  Every knitter knows there are three basic stitches.  Knit.  Purl.  Rip.  Some of us, however, are better acquainted with the third than others.  Sigh.

I am very familiar with "Rip It." Sometimes I feel like a frog. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.....:-) Clara...in TN

Re: Let 'er rip!
Being a novice knitter, I am quickly becoming familiar with the third basic stitch 'rip' - I have to say - I think I've gotten that one 'down pat' - now if ONLY I could grasp 'knit' and 'purl' as well... lol
Sorry to say Debbie - but I'm kinda glad to know that I'm not the only one ripping out stitches lately :)
So let's keep trying...'cause "If at first you don't succeed...rip 'em out and try again" :) Nana Geri from Jersey

Re: Let 'er rip!
oh, debbie i am so sorry you had to rip, i miss knitting as my arthritic hands don't let me do much of it anymore. i haven't found alot of time for it since we moved up to central fl, who knew retirement would be so busy. hope you had a great time at the wine tasting

Re: Let 'er rip!
I am into my second project in knitting class. My first project was a scarf which included multiple stitch patterns. I really learned how to rip and then rip somemore. I enjoyed learning the correct way to rip. Never though there would be such an animal but there is.
I am now in the process of starting an afghan which I intend to give to the daughter of a friend who has been so helpful to me. She loves butterflies so I am searching for a butterfly pattern to knit. Would love any suggestions.

Re: Let 'er rip!
I can empathize with you. I've just begun my first knitted lace shawl and have spent more time doing the rip-it stitch than anything else!

Re: Let 'er rip!
twodox, Please tell us what is the correct way to rip! I've never heard of a "right" way, and I'll bet some others haven't either. Wish I had a butterfly pattern for you! NM in MN
