Fond 4th of July Memories

I’ve always loved The Fourth of July and the way the community got together to celebrate our Independence Day when Wayne and I were newly married and raising our family. Some of my happiest memories are of taking the children to celebrate by watching the parade and the fireworks display. Our oldest son, Ted, was about five when he saw his first marching band. He was mesmerized by the sights and the music and seemed enthralled with the man in front with the big baton. When I asked him if he wanted to march in a band one day, he nodded eagerly. Then I asked him what instrument he wanted to play. It took him a while to answer, and when he did his eyes were bright with enthusiasm. “I want to play the whistle,” he told me.

My best memories was when my kids were small was watching fireworks being shot from a barge on the Ohio River and watching their eyes light up and sparkle like the fireworks.

The 4th of July holds many special memories for me! Our daughter is a "firecracker" baby. And, of course being a military wife it holds so much more! Enjoy your holiday and be safe! Hugs! Delores

I love being at home and BBq'ing but with hubby working 7 days a week right now and my son went to church camp. Little man and I will just hang out and listen to the fireworks around us. Popcorn worked great for dinner tonight. :) He thought it was a special treat. Happy 4th to all!
