Giving Thanks
Wayne and I had Thanksgiving dinner with dear friends on Sunday evening. We gathered at the home of Anita and Alan Greenstein to celebrate the life of Minda Butler, who we all loved so dearly . You might remember from my February 9 blog posting that Minda succumbed to cancer February 6.
Because the evening was a gathering to give thanks for having Minda grace our lives, Anita dubbed it Thanksgiving dinner and served the traditional turkey and stuffing. We toasted Minda and did our best to comfort her husband, Leon, who was able to join us for the evening. One of the blessings of the evening was watching the launch of the space shuttle. As the shuttle shot through the night sky, lighting up the horizon, I could feel Minda’s presence far more than her absence.

Re: Giving Thanks
Such a nice thing to do..and invite her husband. I know that its a blessing to your friend that her husband is being remembered.. I have a sister in law who when her husband died she said to me, no one will come to see me now that my dear Julian is gone(my husbands brother). You know I always remember that..and she lives quite a distance from us... We try to have family gatherings every so many years.. Its hard as children get older, and older folks get older... We must remember the ones who are left behind...

You wrote: "I could feel Mindas presence far more than her absence." That touched me beyond description. I have had a similar experience with a loved one who has passed on, and the joy and comfort it gave me is still with me years later. How blessed you were to sense her presence. Thank you, Debbie, for sharing this with us, your devoted readers. With love and thanks, NM in MN

Re: Giving Thanks
May God bless you and your friends for remembering Minda and especially for having her husband as part of your "celebration" of her life. It would be wonderful if all people had friends like Minda did.
