Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
I have sad news to report.  My Florida friend, Minda Butler, passed away on Friday after a valiant fight against cancer.   You might recall that I dedicated  8 SANDPIPER WAY to Minda.  After several rounds of chemotherapy,  Minda decided she would rather die on her own terms than suffer with the treatments.  She was one of the bravest women I have ever known,  and I will miss her dearly.  Her funeral was this morning, and although Wayne and I were unable to attend, our hearts were with her and her husband and family.

Debbie: I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Minda. Her family will be in my prayers. Friday was a bad day. My youngest son who is 20 is teaching in Japan. He broke his back snowboarding in Northern Japan on Friday. I'm trying to maintain my sanity while waiting for travel arrangements to be made to get me to him. Thank you for your prayers for him. Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
Father God we thank you for the life of Minda; we do not understand your timing, but we will trust you. Comfort and draw near to those who are suffering. Bring peace to them. Amen

Debbie the word of God says, "I will lift my eyes to the hills--where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2)

Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
Debbie, I am so sorry about your friend Minda. I know that her family shouted for joy as she joined them in heaven and were waiting anxiously for her. Her refusing more chemo may have shortened her time here and those who were fortunate enough to have had her in their lives will miss her dearly, but her ancestors and the Savior and Heavenly Father will treasure her presence with them. She has passed for one life into another, more beautiful one.

Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
So sorry to hear about Minda, my prayers are with you her friend and her family and their loss.
Also, prayers for Betsy's son in Japan. Cancer is a terrible disease. We can send men to the moon but don't have a handle on cancer treatments. My husband's aunt, whom I have know from the time I was 15, was just diagnosed with lung cancer and she too at 80 has decided to bypass treatment and spend quality not quanitity with her family. The cancer patients seem to know when they have had enough. God be with you

Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
Debbie,

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Being a nurse I understand her feelings and why she wanted to go out on her own terms. I would feel the same way. She was obviously a very brave person. What time she had left she wanted to keep the quality of it up. How very brave of her. She and her family are in my prayers.
I am sure you made her life that much richer for having you in it, you earned your wings on this one. God bless you for being her friend, I am sure it meant a great deal to her. MaryAnn R.

Debbie,

I am so sorry for your loss. While there will be a void in your life, I am certain that God will put someone in your path to help fill that void to bless you and for you to bless. Know you and her family are in my prayers.

Betsy, It isn't always easy to wait on God's timing, but I know that He will send you to Japan with a mission in mind. Let us know how your son progresses.

Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss. This morning my daughters uncle on her father's side passed away from a long road of cancer. He was at the hospital yesterday and wanted to go home. They took him home yesterday and his dogs jumped up and laid down by him. He was super close to his dogs. He passed early this morning with his family around him. My daughter lives in OH and could not financially get to OR, but she knows that her uncle's family knows her heart is with them. He is out of pain now and in such a better place. Prayers to Minda's family as well.

Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
My friend Florence is also going through cancer treatments for the second time. The first time it was breast cancer and now it is spreading. She is the most loving, smiling person I know. Never has an unkind word about anything or anyone. Our church is praying for her recovery, she plays the piano for the choir every week. We hope God sees fit to keep her here, her family is so good to her also and her husband is a jewel. Cancer is such a terrible thing isn't it?

Re: Minda Butler, Treasured Friend
Debbie,I have read your statement regarding Minda and the lovely posts by your readers. Minda was indeed a very special person. She made each person she met feel like they were the most important in her life. We had over 10 years knowing that cancer would eventually take her but I was still not prepared. The emptiness and pain that I feel now will subside in time and then I hope to live with wonderful memories. Your dedication was truly one of the highlights of her life. Thank you for making her so happy. I will miss her. Thank you Debbie and your readers for your wonderful statements. They help me realize that I'm not alone. Leon Butler
