Short lived tranquility
The predicted storm for our area hit around three on Friday afternoon, and our power went out first thing. I thought it would be kind of fun. I lighted candles around the house, Wayne opened a bottle of wine, and we snuggled up in front of the fireplace.
The tranquility lasted all of fifteen minutes, when Wayne asked me what I intended to do about dinner. (My husband needs a few lessons on how to be romantic . . . ) I suggested reservations, and we eventually did end up dining out, thanks to our daughter. Since Wayne and I intended to have a glass of wine, Jody drove. By the time we returned home it was nine o’clock, and the power still wasn’t back. In fact, electricity didn’t return until around seven Saturday morning. By then I’d made a startling discovery about myself. I am no Laura Ingles Wilder!

Re: Short lived tranquility
Hi Debbie, I know you won't believe this but it has been snowing in Las Vegas since 7AM this morning and it's sticking! It knocked out the satellite dish! No television tonight and I won't have to worry about snuggling, either, since hubby's hunger will take over for sure!!! What's with these men? LOL!

Don't know how you would have handled the hurricanes of 2004 here in the Treasure Coast then. Did you own your condo then? We had NO electricity for 3 weeks. Thank god for a generator. A must down here in hurricane season! You got tired of cooking over a little steno pot also.

We too in Minnesota (Sartell) have been hit by our first real winter snow storm of the season. Fortunately we had power but it did give me a good excuse to sit and knit and make some of those comfort foods, (which we didn't really need) but sure did taste good.

I'm sure I wouldn't be either! Ugh. That's a long time without power.

Re: Short lived tranquility
lol God bless you. I remember growing up I always thought when the power went out what fun we would have. I didn't make it past a couple of days at most before I was tired of it all. I marvel how the people in the old days could do it.
