Black Friday

Yes, my friends, I was one of those crazed shoppers you viewed with horror on the Friday night evening newscast.  My daughters and I set the alarm for 2 a.m. and were pulling into the Silverdale Kitsap Mall parking lot at 3:45 a.m., lattés in hand and our credit cards humming a Christmas ditty in our purses.  As it was, we were fortunate to find a parking spot.

For weeks I’ve been hearing the dreary news--the sad state of our economy, the dire predictions, the  gloom and doom .  I guess someone should have informed our economists that when the word SALE is involved, women shop.  I’m heading out again next weekend.  Anyone care to join me?

Re: Black Friday
You & the daughters deserve medals for the heroic action you did on Friday. It has been the practice of my daughter for years to do what you did, but not me. I am a coward. Sales yes, but not on Black Friday. Hope it was worth it and you found some good sales. Good hunting this weekend.

Re: Black Friday
I was on the other side. Working for Wal Mart. Department Manager, have 17 years under my belt. Our store almost had our day of sales made by noon. This year was different because Mngmnt decided to stage the merchandise in different areas, very confusing for not only the shoppers, but even the associates. It was different!!

Re: Black Friday
What good would it do to save your money when it is for a good cause. Seeing other people enjoy what you bought for them feels so good inside! You have fun Debbie.

Re: Black Friday
I was out there with my daughter. This is the third year that I have gone with her. We walk in Toys R Us and I get into line. 1 hour forty minutes later we get to the check out.She goes around and shops and brings the gifts to me waiting in line. It is tiring but fun to watch all the people. I do beleive their was more spending going on then the news reports wanted to let on. At least in IL.

Re: Black Friday
Would you believe it, my husband went with me! We didn't get exactly what we wanted but I ordered it online for the same price. Today we went to the stores that are our favorites. His is Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop, mine are Hobby Lobby for yarn and Michaels also for yarn. Our guest bed is covered with yarn (after I get all the Christmas gifts done I will start work on preemie caps for the hospitals. The best thing was the camera we got today at the black friday price.

Re: Black Friday
My son went out at 4:ooam that morning - I went later on & didn't want to. I don't like shopping as it is & going out on Black Friday was not fun at all...oh by the way I was in Port Orchard for that week & had a GREAT time, especially that Monday

Re: Black Friday
I had thought about heading out at 5am but decided to role over and get back to sleep. We have been hitting the malls for a few hours early in the morning during the week and being retired we can do that.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
