Living a Dream

Twenty-six years ago today—precisely at 4:39 p.m.—I sold my first book.  Editor Mary Clare Susan phoned to make an offer.  I was in such a state of bewilderment and awe that I said a total of four words.  HelloYesThank-you. Goodbye.  A few days later I phoned back just to be sure I hadn’t dreamed this up.   I remember praying intensely that God would allow me to sell just one book.  I could never have imagined or dreamed all that He had in store for me.   How grateful I am for the wondrous adventure the last 26 years have been,  and I hope to have just as many years more living this wonderful dream.

Re: Living a Dream
Wow Mom, 26 years ago? That makes me 7 at the time. I had no idea how much all our lifes would change from that first sell. But some things are still the same. You still cook dinner for us (but you dont do the dishes anymore). You still put family first and you still know all this is a gift from God!
What a ride the last 26 years have been! Congrats Mom!

I want to say that I am so glad that you did not give up. I love reading your books. I just told my 2nd graders that all good writer have to do rewrites. I told them that my friend wrote for many years before she sold her first book. What a wonderful day for you. Keep writing!!! Luann

Re: Living a Dream
Congratulations on 26 years! I was 10 at the time... and a big fan of Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys. Little did I know that I would expand my horizon to read not only your books, but Nora Roberts (and be privileged enough to meet both of you!), Lois Duncan, James Patterson, and many others.

You mentioned you intensely prayed... I thought I was the only one who did that! I prayed hard for the last 2 years for many things... some of which I got and others I didn't. Then God would show me why I didn't get it. He's good at that.

Re: Living a Dream
may we all pray for our country now and our troops overseas, we are on shaky ground, we need to get back to being on our knees and praying
