Cold Books
I got a wonderful letter from reader Reathel Norberg. She wrote to tell me that her daughter had mailed her my book, TWENTY WISHES. Only her daughter had packed it inside an Omaha Steak box. When Reathel received the box she put it inside the freezer until some time later when her daughter asked how she enjoyed the book. Only then did Reathel discover that she hadn’t received steaks. She did mention that TWENTY WISHES was one of her favorite books, but for some reason the pages seemed to be especially cold!

Re: Cold Books
What a wonderful story! Sounds like something that would happen in my family -- my mom always saved boxes and put presents in them later. We never knew what would be inside. It always added mystery to Christmas morning! I have to admit I have carried on the tradition, and now so have my children. Our favorite packing material is empty paper towel or bath tissue rolls. No one could ever guess ahead of time what might be concealed within their tubular shapes! Then, of course, there were the boxes within boxes within boxes....!

Re: Cold Books
I have finally gotten Twenty Wishes and I have to hide it (like I don't know where it is) so I can get things completed here on the computer as well as housework and caring for grandbabies. So now I shut computer down at 11 at night so I can read until my bedtime which is midnight, as 5 am comes early. I am glad my book is warm tho'. LOL!
