Cedar Cove Cookbook
This week I’ve been working on the text for the Cedar Cove Cookbook. A few years back my cousins and I collected our favorite recipes for a family cookbook. We titled it Adler Food, a term that came from my children. Whenever Wayne and I drove to Yakima, our kids would get so excited, because my mother, Grandma Adler, was such a good cook. Naturally, my mother loved to spoil her grandchildren. I’m so excited about this new cookbook, which will be available in September 2009. This is going to be Adler food at its best.

Re: Cedar Cove Cookbook
Nothing like grandma's cooking. My dad's mom used to cook Sunday dinner on a woodstove and that was the best food ever. The only thing she would fry in a electric skillet was chicken and then she would pour the drippings into a cast iron skillet and make the worlds best chicken gravy. I miss her and those Sunday dinners.

Re: Cedar Cove Cookbook
I'm not a grandma (yet), but I've started a cookbook "collection" to pass on to my daughter & "future" daughter-in-law and hopefully, i'll be passed on to their children as they add their own recipes too! kathi :)

Wow, Debbie, cookbooks are right up my alley. My daughter tells me I have enough - how can one ever have enough cookbooks? All of your books are amazing; I'm sure this will be right up at the top, too!!

Re: Cedar Cove Cookbook
I too, LOVE cookbooks - the more the better! Growing up, we would visit my Polish grandma (Babchi) she would have the entire day's menu planned and had been preparing it for days (we only lived less than 20 minutes away and would see her at least once a week) but...her food was the BEST!!! Still is to this day! She's gone now, but I lovingly honor her each time I prepare one of her recipes - my 3 sisters and I photocopied her handwritten cookbook after she passed away - it's become a family treasure!!!

Re: Cedar Cove Cookbook
Ok, my comment has nothing to do with cookbooks except it sounds like it will be wonderful....
My main reason for writing is b/c I'm half way through your newest book and love that you picked Jim and Shirley for a couple!!!
Nobody ever has my name unless they are old enough to be my grandmother (and the Cedar Cove Shirley isn't!!) so it was exciting for that reason alone. Even more importantly, my husband's name was Jim. He died in April from brain cancer, but it made me feel even closer to your story and characters -- almost like it was dedicated to us (even though the Cedar Cove Jim doesn't die from brain cancer for those who haven't read it yet!). I love too, that it's dedicated to those amazing women. I know you've discussed cancer in several books, but coming from the situation I have in the past couple years, it makes me realize and remember that none of us go through things like this alone.
Thank you!
Shirley
Enjoy the cookbook editing :)

Re: Cedar Cove Cookbook
my maiden name was Alder, my kids are bugging me to put out a family cookbook too, I had hoped to do it this year but got a embroidery machine last birthday and it has taken over my life. Maybe, your email is a sign I need to put some time into making our family cookbook. Can't wait to see yours, I might even have mine started by then.
