Purling in Another Language

I’m back from STITCHES, and am proud to tell you that I can now do the purl stitch in three different languages—German, English and Norwegian.  Knowing how large my stash of yarn already is, Wayne said, when I got home, "Surely you didn't buy more."  I assured him I didn’t buy a single skein and then asked if he’d be willing to roll the multiple skeins I did purchase.   ( He should have known better than to ask! )

While at STITCHES I heard a wonderful story about an older woman who was an avid knitter.  She and her husband were downsizing,  and he asked her what she intended to do with all her yarn.  He said, “My goodness, you must have a hundred dollars worth of yarn packed away.”  That story had those of us with huge stashes rolling in the aisles.

Re: Purling in Another Language
My husband is retireing next spring and we will be moving from Idaho back to Washington state.
I have a craft room down in the basement and he never goes down there but I'm sure when it comes time to move my stuff out of the basement he is going to faint!
We have only lived here for just over four years and my yarn stash just grew and grew.

Re: Purling in Another Language
I haven't knitted or crocheted since we made the move from Miami, FL to Hernado, fl, south to central florida two years ago, but you won't pry any of that yarn out my closet, boy, don't even try. I have a new embroidery machine but nothing takes the place of just sitting and knitting or crocheting something for a loved one. I did make two boa scarves for the American dolls that my two granddaughers have and it was fun with really weird yarn. They loved it, I am thinking of making them ones for Christmas. Where does the time go? I have been lazy recently, don't get up as early as I did, in order to have my daily devotions and I must take the time. Then I get other things done during the day. Now, I am reading the latest Cedar Cove book, don't even talk to me, I am busy.

Book number 10 of the Cedar Cove series could be named
10 Seaview Path or Lane.

Re: Purling in Another Language
I just had to tell you that I finished 8 Sandpiper Way. I read it all yesterday! I always do that with your books. My husband knows that the day your books come out, I go and purchase them and then sit down and read them, right there and then if I can. I can't wait to read A Cedar Cove Christmas and of course I can't wait for the 2009 books to come out. I think Book number 10 should be 10 Redwood Path.

Re: Purling in Another Language
I have a small "stash" since reading your books. (I'm the straight knitter) I have located a yarn store in West Palm Beach and look forward to seeing one for the first time this weekend (I usually get my yarn from a craft store). And I also got my copy of 8 Sandpiper Way yesterday & I'm busy too for the next 4 hours!!

Re: Purling in Another Language
"If only!" I have no family to teach me how to knit. My relatives in France are a little too far from Central Texas to go for instructions! I have bought a couple of your knitting books, Debbie, especially the one with the prayer shawl. Someday there will be a knitting class offered around here where I can learn how to knit! The beginner instruction book I bought a few months ago is good, but I need someone who can answer my questions and who can tell me what the instructions mean in the different projects. Guess in the mean time I can keep knitting basic practice stitches.
