Out of the Corner of My Eye . . .

My husband is my hero.  Late last night I was sitting at our kitchen table, reading, when out of the corner of my eye I saw something scurry across the hardwood floor.  That something turned out to be the biggest spider I’ve ever seen.  It looked about the size of a dinner plate, although in retrospect I now realize it was a bit smaller.  Once I found my voice and called out to Wayne, my wonderful husband took immediate action.  Once the life threatening monster had been destroyed, Wayne calmly said, “You’re safe.”  At which point he went back to watching the ten o’clock news and I climbed down off the table top.

Yup, I would have done the same thing!
Debbie, I am the one who around the first of July, told you I found alot of your early writing in a book store here on Miracle Mile here in Vero Beach. Reading your books from them and comparing them to the ones you write, I like you way now better. I think you were, in my opinion, trying to work your way into the likes of like, say, your other author friend who hales from your area. It is on the tip of my tongue, but I have Debbie McComber on the brain now. I like your writings, I just like the way your style is now. Can wait to read the next Cedar Cove book.

What a wonderful husband you have! Mine is also a "great white hunter" when it comes to creepy crawlies! I'm like you -- I don't share my home with bugs!! (I realize my job is easier than it might be if I lived in the South!) ~~NM in MN

Living in Florida, you get "used to" bugs & critters. I'll never forget my first encounter with a tarantula...I moved to FL the 1st time in 1972 & lived in Orlando...My 1st husband and I got ourselves a brand new condo in a new community. Well, as I was "checking out" my "cubbards" I noticed a bread box drawer...I was thrilled, so I openned it and low & behold there was the Tarantula!! I closed the metal lid on the drawer and walked to the balcony & emptied the drawer...When the spider hit the ground he made a big thud!! Needless-to-say, I was very aware of my surroundings after that!! The only problem I had after that were the cockeroaches!! I can't believe in my 2nd marriage I moved back to Florida again from NJ and have come to terms with "everything" and living happily ever after!! LOL Kathi :)

I would have been joining you on the table. I can handle mice before I can handle spiders. We have those jumping ones here in ID and that can be scary. Take care, Gee in Idaho~

I say never mind not killing them, they are treading in MY TERRITORY and shouldn't be in my house so I consider them fair game. I'm not going to ask for its Green Card or any other form of I.D. before I have it sent to it's eternal reward !!! Notice I didn't say that I was going to kill it !!!
