Grandma Camp

My two nine-year-old granddaughters, Bailey and Maddie, are coming to Grandma camp this week, starting today.  I have an entire itinerary set up for the three of us as I share my passions with my two youngest granddaughters.  We’re starting off this afternoon with a pedicure, followed by cake baking and decorating.  (Jazmine and I have now completed the cake decorating class—although I have yet to master making roses and clowns out of frosting.  Still, it’s been great fun.)

Following the baking, I’ll be giving knitting lessons . . . that’s when the real fun begins.  The week will conclude with a marathon shopping session and lunch out.  I’m sure there’ll be plenty of giggles along the way, too.  Does this sound like fun, or what?

Re: Grandma Camp
me too, I want you to adopt me. I missed seeing my grandkids as much this summer, they all had sports camps. Did get to spend a week with 3 of the 4 just before school and took them to Weeki Wachi and played in our pool a lot. My eldest grandson was my chef's assistant and quite good at it. He himself does not eat much, mac and cheese, pizza, hot dogs and etc. but loves to cook for others. He is now as tall as his Godfather, my youngest son, 6 ft tall at 14, they do grow up fast. Of course they all think they are grown up when they are taller than their 5 ft grandma. Enjoy

Re: Grandma Camp
My son is getting married next spring and I can't wait for the day I become a grandmother. I loved being with my grandmother because she did fun things too! My daughter had a wonderful relationship with her grandmother, my mom. My mom passed away two years ago and my daughter (22) still talks about all the fun she had and even when she was in college she would go to her grandmother's, watch her favorite soap opera- Passions, have lunch and just spend time talking! Have a wonderful time with your granddaughters.

Re: Grandma Camp
"Mom's couldn't be everywhere - that's why God created Grandmas!"
This is a quote from a plaque my grandma 'Babchi' had hanging in her kitchen. I remember every summer taking the bus ride with her and all her rosary society lady friends down to Asbury Park NJ to walk the boardwalk, eat fried shrimp at a "real" restaurant, get Kohr's frozen custard for dessert and top it off with a great ride on the carousel!
I'm 46 and a grandma (Nana) myself now, but I still treasure the memories of my dear, sweet Babchi...Enjoy your time with Bailey and Maddie. You deserve it! :)

Re: Grandma Camp
I have been a foster mom to three of my grandbabies. I have had all of them pretty much since they were three days old. The two older ones went to live with their daddy about 6 months ago and things begin to backslide so they are back with us. So right now, counting them we have 5 foster children (3 which are grandbabies ages 3 1/2,2 1/2, 18 months. So my days are busy and our son, our baby is 10 today.

Re: Grandma Camp
Those lucky children! I am quickly racing through your latest book, but paused to see what's up with you, too. :) I cannot WAIT to have Grandma Camp at my house "someday." (My children are 4, 7, 10, 13, 15, and 18 years old! It will probably be a while until then!) ;)

Re: Grandma Camp
How cool is that?! I have fond memories of my grandmothers, but nothing like that!
I enjoy my three grandsons, ages 14, 11, and 8. Hopefully my oldest son and his wife will grant me my wish for a granddaughter next year! I have begun collecting little girl things for my "someday" granddaughter! :D
Have a WONDERFUL memory-making camp!
Blessings ~

Re: Grandma Camp
Time with grandchildren is the best. I work every other weekend. On my weekend off the grandchildren come sleep over on Saturday. We play game, playout side and do other fun things. Sunday we go to churchtogether, have lunch together. The rule is you have to be 2years old to sleep over, but at 18 months you can come for the day and parents have to pickyou up. Lily wasn't to be sleeping over do to the surgery, I had on my shoulder in July. While Lily to her Mom good-bye. When her mother went to get her in the living room, Lily had hold of the table and chair and wouldn't let go. Thanks to my other dauther who lives with me Lily got to stay over. We all laugh about it now but her mom was heart broken. Lily is the youngest. I ask the kids why there want to go to grandma,s house and was told we love you. That is the best. Dawn
