Family Reunion
Wayne and I spent the weekend in Colville, Washington, for his family reunion. We reconnected with aunts, uncles, cousins and more kids than we could count. We realized that not only are we related by blood to all these wonderful people, but many are also dear, dear friends. We passed around photos from the reunions thirty and forty years ago, and I realized that Wayne and I haven’t really changed that much. Okay, there’s less hair and more of us, but that seemed to be the way with everyone else, too.

Re: Family Reunion
I think it's nice how so many people can come together to re-unite. I've always wondered what a family reunion would be like. My family, as diverse as it is, has never really been close, or made steps to keep the family unit strong. So I think it's great you had such a wonderful experience with yours. :)

Re: Family Reunion
I am so glad you had a wonderful time, it is nice to reconnect with extended family. We did that this summer with elderly aunts and an uncle and it may be the last time we see them, they are all in poor health and they appreciated our visit so much. Life is short

Re: Family Reunion
Debbie, it sounds like a wonderful time you had. Coming from a military family (30 yrs) growing up and a military family with my husband (25 yrs)the only time we ever saw family was in-route to a new assignment and if anyone else came we were lucky. This past memorial day we came the closest to a reunion that I know of...we met with some of my husbands extended family at a cookout held by his cousin Dan in Illinois. I look forward later on this year meeting a half sister I have never met. I hope to meet her in Durango, CO sometime soon and in November I am flying to San Antonio to attend my Aun't 100th birthday and then a shower for my neice who is having twins. I am lucky that my siblings and I have a wonderful relationship. At least they all get along with me. My blessings abound even though there is not a reunion in the future...maybe someday. If anyone wants me to "adopt" them into my family all they have to do is let me know. I love new friends and family members...you never know they may really be family members.

Re: Family Reunion
I come from a large family on my mom's side (7 kids, 17 grandkids, 20 great-grandkids, 1 great-great grandkid)and I happen to be the 1st grandchild (born to their 1st born) with the 1st great-grandchild and 1st great-great grandchild -- Last year we all got together for my grand-parents 65th anniversary and it amazed me how my cousins all started to look like their parents! I understand what you mean that over the years there's 'more' to see of everyone - Just as long as we're not speaking of hairlines!!! At least that's the case in my family (lol) :)

Debbie:
I have always loved your books from the beginning. Now, I see that we may be long lost cousins - by marriage. My beloved grandmother was Leona Catherine Scott. Of course, we were both born in Texas. Who knows though?
Tell Wayne I'll claim him as one of my cousins.
Looking forward to the new Cedar Cove Book this month.

Debbie-
It was fun to see you at the reunion. Thank you for being so nice to Greer and giving her such encouragement. She's still talking about it. :) -Tonia

Re: Family Reunion
Debbie, I think it is great that the reunion went well. My family is not close so we pretty much keep to ourselves, amd at our home we never know who will be a part of our family and for how long as we are a foster home. He are presently in the process of adopting our grandson. I guess it is a lengthy process. Have a Day of Sunshine!
