Happy 4th of July!
The 4th of July reminds me of potato salad and my father. He loved potato salad. In fact, I was married before I realized that not everyone ate potato salad for breakfast. (Try it with fried eggs; it's great!) Dad was proud to be an American and served his country honorably. He was a POW in WWII and he marched in every hometown parade and flew the American flag proudly. We owe our freedom to honorable men like my dad. You can bet I’ll be eating potato salad tomorrow. Happy 4th of July, everyone.

A Happy 4th of July to you and your family. Yes, this holiday should be another reminder of our thankfulness to all of the men and women who have served, are now serving or will serve in the armed forces to protect our freedom.

Yes, We live in the land of the free, because of the brave. Wear red, white and blue to remember those that serve, I will. My dad served in WWII also, was part of the Berlin Air Lift and many other places in Germany. My heritage is that of the military. Revolutionary war, Civil War, WWII, and husband is Vietnam Vet and son is Desert Storm Vet. God bless those in Iraq now.
Any President nominee should be required to serve 4 years, 365 days a year and 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in the military for their country.

Re: Happy 4th of July!
I was married a long time before I found out not everyone loved southern style potato salad. My family came from Indiana but my grandmother had been from Kentucky and it was her recipe. My husband's side came from Illinois and Florida and they ate the same kind, silly me I thought all potato salads were the same. I moved to Long Island and got a rude awakening, they don't make it with sweet pickles and eggs. We also have to have deviled eggs and chipped beef balls, made with chipped beef, chopped onions and cream cheese, of course there are not calorie counts on the 4th.
Have a good one, our daugther and her family are coming up from Orlando and our older son lives with us. take care p.s. I agree all presidents need to serve 4 years in the military, now that is real experience. Then they need a business phd. and some real people skills. My husband is Vietnam vet and his father was in WWII, my son is a Desert Storm vet. and my nephew is Desert Storm and Iraq vet. God be with our troops who are keeping our freedom for us.
Also, I have both your new paperbacks, I read "Someday soon" and it was great.

Re: Happy 4th of July!
What great memories to have about the 4th! My husband is a Desert Storm vet (USMC) and the 4th is his favorite holiday of the year, with fireworks and a bbq! Here in Phoenix, we have to make do with watching professsional fireworks displays-not a good idea to start any fires ourselves, right now!
P.S. I adore potato salad, and my Mom makes the best!

Debbie: What unit was your father in during WWII? What Prison Camp was he in? I work with WWII Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and publish their newsletter.

With each mbrship your name and address will be on the mailing list for 'THE ARDENNES VOICE', which is published monthly. Please let us know what unit your father-in-law served with. Re: Happy 4th of July!
We too are a very patriotic family. My son-in-law was posted to Afganistan soon after 9-11 and was on active duty for about a year. My grandson is in his senior year at the Naval Academy in Annapolis and hopes to be a Navy pilot someday. Now about potatoe salad for the 4th. I made a huge bowl which my husband promptly began to eat for breakfast, lunch. dinner and snacks. Glad you are home and now writing. Can't wait for a new book.
