Dieting and Exercise

Once I finish swimming my half mile in the morning, I speed walk around the pool with my friends Rachel and Alice.  We share recipes and talk about food the entire time.  I was telling them about a great pork chop recipe I recently found that sounded so good and easy.  Brown four pork chops in butter or oil, salt and pepper to taste, add two sliced apples (skins on) across the top of the browned chops, add ½ cup maple syrup, cover and cook 20 minutes.  Sounds yummy, doesn’t it?  Alice cooks her pork roasts with homemade sauerkraut and onions in the crock pot.  I’m trying that recipe this weekend.  People wonder why it is we exercise so diligently and never seem to loose weight.  Now you know--we hurry home and cook!

Re: Dieting and Exercise
boy, that sounds good, I just did a pork roast yesterday, I wish I had known about her recipe. I try hard to lose but I do go to Curves at least 2 times a week and it keeps me limber so I don't have to take pills for the arthritis. Ihave lost inches and a few pounds.

Re: Dieting and Exercise
When I exercised with my cousin-in-law we talked about food most of the time. It's not so much the losing weight - it's the good time spent with friends and family. Recipe sounds good to me, too!!

Yummy that sounds good. I can't eat much pork but just to make it and have a few bites sounds good to me. :) I do the foster care so went from 297 to 149 in weight in just over 3 years. Now, hope it stays off as we dwindle down to the adoption of our grandson and doing respite with no permanent placements after the two we have in placement get to go home. Daughter off to college next month. Boo Hoo! for the mama and then just will have our baby 9 and then grandbaby 16 months tomorrow. How did I get off the subject of pork? LOL!

Re: Dieting and Exercise
I fix pork chops the Italian way...buy a jar of CENTO "sweet" peppers (which is actually vinegar peppers)& long-sliced onion and pan-fry until carmelized; in another pan, cook the pork chops in the vinegar-water (about 1/4 cup at a time) of the peppers; mix together & VOILA!! Serve with Italian bread and you've got it made!! (Best thing about this recipe is you can control the amount you want to make! (Two pork chops or "Twenty")!!!

Re: Dieting and Exercise
I make a similar recipe but you put a can of apple pie filling on bottom of pan, then brown chops and put on top filling, then make a box of stove top and spread over top and bake. VERY yummy especially in fall!

I have the worst luck with pork chops. Somehow, I always turn them into pork jerky. Definitely willing to give this recipe a shot! Apple flavored pork jerky sounds yummy to me!

Re: Dieting and Exercise
Used to eat pork but turned Vegan in 2007. I have lost 50 lbs. so far and feel much, much better. My husband is still a meat, etc. eater so I just might cook them for him even though
it goes against my whole non-killing, eating of animals - Oh, well! I feel the need to compromise for peace.

Praise the Lord for Pork Chops...and swimming pools! I love cooking almost more than eating but of course I said almost! I have found that since I turned 50 the weight is creeping up and the more I work out the hungrier I am...is that normal...
