Live Long and Prosper

While I was away on tour, the last of my father’s brother passed away.  My Uncle Bernard lived a long, fruitful life and was so very precious to each one of us.  What I loved most about him was his dry sense of humor and his quick wit.  My cousin Linda told me about a particular telephone call she had with Uncle Bernard.  It was after eight in the evening and she was a little afraid he might be getting ready for bed, so she asked, “Uncle Bernard, are you in your pajamas?”  My sweet uncle hesitated and then drawled out, “No . . .  but I can put them on if you want me to!”

Re: Live Long and Prosper
My condolences to your family. I have an aunt similar to your uncle. She is 85, teaches Bible classes, does the New York Times puzzle in ink and is more precious than gold.

Re: Live Long and Prosper
It is so sad to lose a older family member like that. I always think about all the family history that I will never know. I lost my last aunt last year at 93 and I miss her and her sisters very much.

Re: Live Long and Prosper
my condolences also, we have spent a week with the last remaining aunts and uncle this summer and dread the day they are gone. Uncle Norman has had all kinds of cancer and stomach problems but he is funny as can be. He has that dry sense of humor too. We wouldn't have missed this trip this year for anything as all 3 of them are in ill health. Bob's aunt Martha, his uncle's wife, has alzheimers and still knows us but we don't know for how long, so it was good to see her. His other aunt has COPD and we had to take oxygen in the car the whole trip and we kept her entertained with movies, we have an Odyssey with a dvd player in it. It was great, we put old movies on and we listened while she watched, sometimes we just don't take time to talk and listen, she loved the movies and we talked about old actors and she would mention when she went to see the movie, we learned a lot. They are all only 10 years older than us and so it makes you want to make sure to enjoy the moment. It is great to have good memories of our loved ones who pass on, be sure to pass them on to our kids too.

Re: Live Long and Prosper
I know how saddened your heart may be at this time but all is in God's planning and he is in a greater place than we are. My prayers go out to you and your family. Gee
