Keys to the House

My head is spinning, and, unfortunately, it isn’t always in the right direction.  Yesterday Wayne and I flew from Florida to Washington State.  Half away across the continent I leaned over and asked Wayne if he had the keys to the house.  He gave me one of his dubious looks that said of course he did.

I reminded him it’d been three months since we left Port Orchard, and I wasn’t sure where my house key was.  As it turned out, he thought I meant Florida, and I was talking about our Washington home.   So we landed without a way into our house.  Added to that, we completely forgot we don’t have a car here, either!  It made for an interesting return, but fear not, all is well.  We slept in our own beds, and I rediscovered that I don’t like driving Wayne’s truck.

Re: Keys to the House
It sounds like one of those days you should have stood in bed. I know what you mean about sleeping in your own bed, isn't it wonderful? We have those discussions about keys and things find out we mean different car keys, the van vs the truck. Somedays we are just not on the same wave length I guess and it seems you weren't either. Welcome home, relax and enjoy. Prayers are being said for you and y ours, Elaine

Re: Keys to the House
I just love coming home from trips. It is so good to be back among all my own things. I travel about four or five times a year for trade shows and add a day or two of vacation time. My husband goes with me. I love going and enjoy coming home. Dorothy

Oh no! I did that once and I was living alone at the time... thank heavens I had hidden a spare set in my truck.

Glad that you & Wayne are home safe and sound.

Re: Keys to the House
We are a foster home and just realized after reading this that we only have one set of keys to the car. I thought of all the little ones that will be in and out of our home the next two months, as we do respite care for other foster parents. I think I best get a second set made....What ya think? LOL!

Been there--got the t-shirt and I did not even like it. I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten or even lost things. I've even misplaced my cell phone one day--only to realize that it was in my hand.

I have done the cellphone thing. Looking all over for it when I am talking to somebody on it. UGH!

Re: Keys to the House
Without Debbie there would be so much more boring days with nothing to read.

Re: Keys to the House
LOL We go back and forth between Port Orchard and Phoenix all the time. I always carry my keys and hubbys keys. Our problem is remembering which car we are driving! We are in Phoenix right now watching Spring Training.

Also, our Grandson was born! I gave him the Bear Blankie I shared at the Christmas Tea.
Frannie, across the street from Reneta (When I am in Port Orchard! LOL)

Re: Keys to the House
Dear Debbie, Thanks for sharing what has to be a "red-face" moment-sorta like when I lock my keys in the car and have to call my hubby to come-YUCK!
If I may respond to a fellow fan, congrats on the new grandbaby, Mindismom! I just got back from holding my new grandson last week! BTW, I live in Tempe; enjoy spring training!
