Dublin, Ireland!

I’m enjoying Ireland just as much as I thought I would.  This isn’t my first visit to the Emerald Isle, but I did experience a first:  my first Irish coffee!

I also had my first international phone call using my Blackberry.  As usual, nothing is as easy as it seems.  I was in such a rush to get ready for my trip that I didn’t follow through on the international calling details I needed to complete, so of course my phone would not work when I reached Ireland.  I was finally able to get in touch with a phone tech, who immediately knew that I had not read my manual.  I promised I would do phone summer school—whatever it took—to get it working.  He made it happen, so I guess I’m going to summer school.  And can you guess where this phone tech was located?  Nope, not in Ireland—he was in Albuquerque, NM!

Even though I’m enjoying myself, this is a business trip, so I’ve been meeting wholesalers and signing stock.  I’ve met some wonderful people, and it was exciting to meet members of the international press.

There was a wonderful shop right around the corner from my hotel that sold hand knit sweaters, and they had a bit of yarn, too, but that’s all I’ve found so far.  I’m hoping for more opportunities in London, which is my next stop.

I would love to visit Ireland. Are you going to kiss the blarney stone? What I found different about your blog is your phone tech was in Albuquerque New Mexico. Any tech I have ever called were in the Phillipines or Iran (or somewhere where they wear turbins on there head.

Oh Debbie! You lucky girl! My wish is to go 'across the pond' to the home of my ancestors, Italy. They have great yarns there too!
Have a great time.

Re: Dublin, Ireland!
How I wish I had a better memory. I was in London last year with my daughter. We walked everywhere and I found two wonderful yarn shops. Because of limited luggage space I controlled myself and only bought enough yarn for one afgan. LOL I can't remember where the shops were located though. I'll keep thinking and re-post if I remember! Enjoy yourself! I can't wait to go back. The National Gallery is great. All of the pictures from my school history books were right in front of me "in the flesh" so to speak. I wish I were tagging along in your backpack!

Re: Dublin, Ireland!
I loved the yarns in and outside of London and like you I didn't get to see hardly any places for yarn on the tour we were on. I did find some patterns that were a little different. I bought an Irish knit sweater, but being that I live full time in Florida, I found one that was 100% cotton and I love wearing it, reminds me of our trip. Arent' the Irish so friendly. What history there is over there. I am so glad by the way that you are writing another book about Blossom Street.
Take it easy, enjoy

Oh to visit Ireland, oh to visit anywhere. Make sure you take some time for seeing the area for me. I know that it's work, but you know what I mean.

Debbie! What a wonderful experience. I would dearly love to visit Ireland. Have been to England, Scotland, France, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Italy but missed Ireland altogether. Have a wonderful 'working' trip and travel safely.

Re: Dublin, Ireland!
Ireland is fantastic, truly the land of green, the people are so friendly, the pubs with fireplaces and irish coffee are great. The food is so good. The history is so varied and so much to take in everywhere you go. If you ever want to visit a great place and they love Americans, go to Ireland, the scones are the best with big cups of great tea or coffee. The countryside is unbelievable, take a step back in time in some places. Everyone should try to go at least once in their life. My father is probably turning in his grave, we come from a long line of English, my maiden name was Alder. Just had to share my thoughts.

Re: Dublin, Ireland!
Debbie, I am a recent fan of your books. I just discovered them a few months ago. I can't devour enough of them.

I have had so much fun with you on your tour. My dream is to visit Ireland some day. With red hair, it's no secret my background is Irish ;-)

I am so excited that you also knit and share! I have been knitting for about 15 years, but I only learned so I could knit dish cloths.

My good friend is trying to get me to try socks EEEEEK. They look hard, but it's worth a try. Heck, I already have socks with holes in them, so why not knit some, too?

Thanks for being so down to earth! I hope to get to meet you one of these days. Do you ever get to Oregon??
