Wildlife in Florida
Even after several years of living in this beautiful section of Florida, I’m still awed by the nature we encounter. For example, yesterday we were boating on the Indian River with our friends Rhett and Claudia and happened upon nine dolphins. They swam right up to the boat, and two of them came up to the surface and looked us right in the eye! It was one of the most incredible experiences of our time in Florida. We also spotted several birds I’ve never seen before. I think I need to find a good bird book. I'm looking forward to this weekend and then I’ve promised myself I’ll get back to work.

When I hear the words "wildlife in Florida" I can't help it, I automatically think of Tink and Wayne...

...And I thought seeing the skunk run across the road last night was cool! Sadly for me, there aren't any dolphins here in Redding, CA. Guess I will just have to appreciate the wildlife we do get!

Isn't it the most wonderful experience to see the dolphins in real life. When we lived in Miami and went boating down there it was so exciting to see them. NOw we live in the Crystal River area and enjoy the manatees. Also, when you see the rays gliding along, they are so fast and smooth. A good book for Florida is the "National Audubon Society Field Guide to Florida, not only birds but fish and etc.

I have a friend's daughter that all she collects is dolphins. So I have decided to cross-stitch after it has been put away for 3 years a dolphin for her for Christmas. I also found the Prayer shawl in a crochet pattern so will cover the laps of my mother's this next winter.

Dear Debbie, I remember riding on the chain beneath the bowsprit on my Dad's sailboat when I was about 12 and seeing dolphins riding the waves right beside me. It was an amazing experience!
