Winding Yarn
Wayne rolls my yarn for me. I have this contraption that he finds fascinating, and he seems to get a real thrill out of whirling the yarn into balls that pull out from the middle. I appreciate it, and he does a really good job.
This morning he’s winding sock yarn. When I walked by on my way from the laundry room, I found him glancing up toward the ceiling. When I asked him what he was doing, he reminded me of those television ads where a huge can of beer falls on men doing “unmanly” things. Apparently winding yarn falls into that category. I guess I just never realized a man could be traumatized by yarn.

Re: Winding Yarn
Dear Debbie, I don't think that the Lord thinks your husband is doing an 'unmanly thing' by showing love to you through "acts of service" (one of Gary Chapman's "five love languages")! I believe God will bless him for winding your yarn, and is certainly big enough to keep beer from falling on Wayne's head! Just a couple of thoughts on the subject.

Re: Winding Yarn
My husband use to wind my yarn when I was crocheting. We have two grandbabies leaving us to go live with their birth father by the end of the month and I am trying to focus on the positive things. Crocheting is one of them, as I had so many projects going before I became foster mom to 3 grandbabies. We will have the 9 month old yet for a short time. So there will be things to fill my emptiness. I think it is nice when a man can do something for his wife even when others might think it is unmanly but to me it is simple. It is love!

Re: Winding Yarn
God blesses you with Wayne. I too have a husband who loves to help me in anyway possible with knitting or our latest endeavor a computer/embroidery sewing machine. He does all the digitizing of the pictures and helps me thread the machine and sew the embroidery part. He also loves his hobby shop and does the manly thing of building things for people and giving them away. WE are truly blessed with these guys. Glad to hear you back in our state of FL enjoy the wonderful weather. We did have a few days of slight freeze last week but saved our 3 little fruit trees. Elaine from centraul Florida

Re: Winding Yarn
Thanks for the Wayne update. I'll have to show my husband that post so he'll know he's not alone. Dennis also helps me wind yarn, oil my spinning wheel, (I drip it all over when I try), and find me more ways to store yarn. I'm with Marcia, I started The Manning Sisters last night and I'm enjoying them very much. The cold Montana is reminding me of Spokane. We've had 16 inches of snow at our house in the last 3 days with 5 more forecast. Sure wish I could sit home and knit and be all cozy instead of going to work. Think of us here in Washington while you're in sunny Florida.

Oh Debbie, tell Wayne not to worry. My husband was a Fullback for the Ducks (eons ago!) but he crochets! He said 'if Rosy Greer can do needlepoint.............'

Re: Winding Yarn
Debbie & Wayne, I think it's a love thing when a husband winds yarn, knits, or even makes me tea when I'm busy on a knitting, crocheting, or embroidery project. Especially when I have one of our two cats on my lap. Maybe even one day Wayne will take up knitting. I remember my dad knitting my Ken doll a top and a pair of pants because all Ken came with was a swim suit. LOL. Keep up the good work Wayne. Kris in Lynnwood.
