Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. I imagine there’s a party going on up in heaven for him and for all he represented. I was a teenager during the race riots of the 1960s, but it wasn’t until I was a wife and mother that I came to appreciate Dr. King and his message. Yesterday Wayne and I sat in church with both blacks and whites, in a church that as little as fifty years ago was segregated. Thanks to Dr. King, we now sit side by side and worship God together as brothers and sisters.

Re: Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I went with my son's 5th grade class on Friday to see a play based on the book, "The Watsons Go to Birmingham". The play made the book "real" for my son and much more meaningful for today.

Amen Debbie! So glad all of those barriers have come down so we can get down to focusing on God's plan for us while we are here. Pretty sure it involves loving one another as we love ourself! :)

Re: Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I am in my 70s and a born and bred white southernor. I wasn't always 100% in agreement with MLK, Jr., but am very glad that the situation is as it is today and I know he had a tremendous impact on many. This past weekend my sister and I went to the 100th birthday celebration of an elderly black woman who had a great impact on our lives when we were growing up and in the years since then. It was a grand occasion and we drove from Birmingham, AL to s Tampa, FL for this celebration so that must be of some indication to how much we love this old friend and "other mother."
