2008 Special Phrase
Every year I choose a special word for the year.  It sometimes takes me a few days to come up with my word.  In 2007 I had my word even before the first of the year and it was PASSIONATE.  I long to live my life with passion and I believe that I do.  For 2008 my word has been slow in coming and then this morning it dawned on me that it isn’t a word this year but a phrase.  MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  It’s possible for one single person to make a difference and that’s my prayer for this next year.  I want to make a difference in this world.

In my opinion, Debbie...you already have made a difference! I love to read now because of your books! Thank you for that!

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
I read one of your books last year where the ladies chose words (I feel like it was Thursdays at 8)for the year and I loved that idea. On January 1st, I thought of you and asked my family to come up with words or phrases. My husband came up with "healthy". I came up with three.. "opportunity", "onion free" and "calm". My oldest daughter cracked us up with "one serving"!! You inspire us in so many ways and you absolutely make a difference!

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
Debbie, your book "Knit Together" has inspired me to use it and The Bible for a group study at my church. So I think my word for 2008, has to be, "Inspired". I have not wanted to be part of that "girls" group, once a month, until now. Thank you so much ! My other word/phrase is
"Let's sell out here and move to Port Orchard". Thanks again!! Barbara in Janesville, CA (and Pam too!)

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
I think my word will be GRACE for 2008. It's by grace that I'm even here and I need to remember to show grace to others. Thanks for the reminder Debbie!

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
I believe MAKE A DIFFERENCE should be paired with ACKNOWLEDGE and APPRECIATE. My Mother never failed to acknowledge and appreciate people who made a difference, even when she was on Hospice Care. And acknowledging and appreciating make a difference to those who made a difference to you.

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
Dear Debbie, you have already made a difference in the lives of my patients with the generous gift of your books! It is so wonderful to see your inspirational words being passed on, to comfort those with broken hearts and spirits! I think my word for 2008 is ENCOURAGE; it is amazing to me that even a little encouragement (and kindness!) goes such a long way for the thirsty soul!

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
Just found out we are going to lose our grandbabies after 3 years. We may or may not see them depending on their father. We will still have one grandchild as far as we know. He is 9 months. So I am putting FAITH in God's Plan and know through the heartache I will get through it. Thanks for this blog....

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
Hey Debbie! My book club and I are about to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. After reading Thursdays at 8 - we decided to choose a word for this coming year. My word choice is Truth. I need to seek it, speak it and reinforce the importance of it in my children. My book club ladies are all strong Christians and I am grateful they will be there to hold me accountable. Thank you for this idea! You are a true inspiration!

Re: 2008 Special Phrase
Hi Debbie,
From snowy Janesville Ca to you in Florida - took a few days for me to realize what would be my word of the year. It is "thankful". On so many levels, thankful for God's guidance, for love of family and friends, for opportunities yet unseen, for each sunrise and each smile and laugh. We are so blessed to be sharing this time on earth together. Your books add a spark of joy and lend yet more things to examine in my daily life.
Enjoy the sunshine !
Pam in Janesville (and mom Barbara too - but she posts now:)
