Joyful in Hope

I had dinner with three of my dearest friends last evening. We did a Christmas gift exchange, which is always fun. Linda Nichols, a fellow author and knitter, gave me one of Stephanie Pearl McPhee’s books, along with a bookmark.

The bookmark has a Scripture verse from Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope . . . faithful in prayer.

Yup, that pretty much describes me and the knitting process. I start out with joyful expectation. Usually, at some point during the project, I want to toss the entire thing on the carpet and stomp on it. That's where the faithful in prayer part comes in. Still, I love it. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Re: Joyful in Hope
Debbie, you always make me laugh and I see a lot of myself in your stories! I, too, start out my knitting projects with a lot of hope and they reall7y are improving. I've been crocheting for 40 years, knitting for just over 1. My husband says to just crochet since I'm fairly good at it. It frustrates him more to see me rip out hours & hours of knitting than it does me. :-) May God grant me all of the fruits of the spirit when I'm knitting.

Debbie, I agree with Betsy...you so make me laugh! I too have been crocheting for 30 years and only started knitting maybe a year ago...more projects have been tossed by this gal too!
A new day, a new project with hope of accomplishment...
Best to you and Wayne this Holiday season!

Re: Joyful in Hope
When I read the title of this blog I knew I had to respond because I am reading Knit Together and have had so much spiritual inspiration and Debbie your word for this year is HOPE. :) I am a croheter. Would love to learn knitting but never have time to sit long enough. I know, finding time for me...LOL!
