Minnie Pearl and Me

This morning I had an early physical therapy appointment.  I was feeling really good in my brand new pair of pants and new sweater, both in lovely autumn shades of beige and brown.

Seeing that my appointment was the first of the day, I stood outside chatting on my cell phone until the facility unlocked the front door.  A couple of people smiled and waved.  I didn’t know them, but hey, I’m friendly.  While sitting in the waiting area, I noticed a couple of other people looking at my new pants.  They really are nice.  Not until I got into the changing room did one of the assistants point out that the clear plastic strip stating the size ran the entire length of the pant leg.  No wonder people were looking at me!  Now the entire world knows I wear size ..…--you didn’t honestly think I was going to tell you, did you?

P.S.  For those who might not know, Minnie Pearl was a comedian who regularly appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and later on a television country comedy show called Hee Haw. Minnie always wore a straw hat as part of her costume—a hat with the price tag dangling from it!

Oh Debbie you reminded me of my childhood! My Grandma had a friend who had a zillion hats. One day she was walking down the street and Grandma said 'Pasqualina! The price tag is hanging on your new hat.' She replied 'Oh! Thats okay. Tomorrow I'm bringing this one back to exchange it for another one. I always do that.'

Re: Minnie Pearl and Me
I did that before. I had a new pair of pants I wore to school (I was teaching) and they were a size larger... don't you know one of the little tykes told me, "Miss C., what's that number on your butt?"

It happened again a few years later with a shirt. And I shop at Lane Bryant. I had SIZE 22 plastered on my left breast!

So now all the kids knew what size pants (and shirt) I wore.

LOL Debbie! I can so relate. That is just the type of thing I'd do. I remember watching Minnie Pearl on Hee Haw when I was little. She was one of a kind.

I picked up Christmas Wishes today on a trip out. Can't wait to dig in.

I chuckled and then I bursted out with laughter. I needed this today. Kind of with the cold weather and raising my grandbabies, which right now is a rollercoaster. Are they staying are they going? I needed a good laugh and have done it with a t-shirt before. I am reading Finding Noel from one of your favorite people Debbie, Richard Paul Evans. Man, reading this I am so happy we are the Christian foster home that we are. Not pefect but full of love and hugs for sure. PS. I got Christmas Wishes done already!:)

You gave me my giggle for the day!!! It's nice to know I'm not the only absent minded person on earth. I went to church one sunday with my denim jumper on backward. Didn't realize it until I got home and went to take it off! Luckly no one ever mentioned it! But it must have looked a little strange with the pockets on my butt!
